Ken and Julie Faulkner

We have been living and serving the Lord in Niamey, Niger, West Africa for two years. Ken is the business manager at Sahel Academy, an international school. He is also serving as the facilities manager until there is someone who fills that role. Julie is serving as the personnel manager and guidance counselor for Sahel. This SIM school is primarily serving children of missionaries. There is a dorm, which houses students from 7-12 grade whose parents are serving in other West African countries that do not offer education in English. The dorm also houses students whose parents live in the interior of Niger, working at Galmi Hospital or in Maradi or Danja. These ministries are vital to God’s plan in showing himself to the people of this 98% Muslim country.

We would love the opportunity to have visitors or share with anyone who is interested in serving in Niger.

Niger is one of the poorest countries in the world. We hope to not only serve the missionaries working in the bush or outlying countries, but to support the Nigerien Christians in their obedience to God in sharing their faith. Harvest Bible Church recently helped a Christian family dig a well in their neighborhood. As they are the only Christians present, the well has been integral in making their home the center of the community and a place where people come for help and care.

Sahel Academy offers many outreach ministries to our students and staff. In coming to Niger, where many live on less than $1 US per day, we thought we knew what those ministries would look like. But, what we have discovered is people who are hungry. People are hungry physically and spiritually in ways that we had never before witnessed.

If you have a heart for the lost, we invite you to visit and see how God might use you here. Nigeriens are a kind and generous people who are very curious about Westerners. We are blessed to be able to represent Christ in our lives here. Offering love and hope is what Christ has done for us, and we hope to continue to offer it in His name.
